Today in Sports...

As you all know, today is February 13th, and it is G.A.C.'s birthday (if you didn't know that, you're a fucking idiot). The number 13 is typically associated with bad luck and other shit like that, but that's just an urban myth. February 13th has actually been a good day in sports history.

Mats Sundin was actually born on February 13 in 1971. Without Mats, the desolate Leafs teams from the 1990's and early 2000's might have been slightly more pathetic to watch than they already were. Sundin was the only bright spot to watch on teams that hosted Jonas Hoglund, Igor Korolev, Robert Rychel, Mike Johnson, and Sergei Berezin as first liners and acted as if this was acceptable. Sundin managed to turn AHL'ers like Johnson and Hoglund into respectable players who could contribute when Sundin spoon fed them passes or when he took a shot that incidently deflected off them and went into the net. Basically, all I'm trying to say is that the Leafs would have been in the basement of the NHL for years if we didn't have Sundin as the flower in a pile of shit and manure (Weird analogy).

You know who else was born today? Randy "One Clap" Moss, arguably one of the greatest wide receivers in the history of football. Even if he wasn't the best, he was a complete prick, and this makes him one of the best in my eyes. Lots of players in major sports are complete pricks, including, but not limited to: Adam Burish, Glenn Healy, Gregg Zaun, Kellen Winslow II, and a bunch of other assholes that no one really cares about. The difference between these players and Moss, is that Moss could actually back up his asshole persona on the field by doing something of value. He managed to be an entertaining and exceptional athelete at the same time. Good luck to him in Tennessee, hopefully he continues to be a selfish prick in the future!

  1. Sundin was the greatest Swedish hockey player of all time besides Lidstrom and Forsberg - Why no mention of that?
