It's Going to be a Long Season...

What does the Blue Jays infield have in common with the cast of Rules of Engagement? Not too much, other than the fact that aside from David Spade and Aaron Hill, no one knows who the rest of them are. Oh, I also forgot to mention that both of them are terrible at baseball, and neither the dismal state of the Blue Jays nor the cast of Rules of Engagement are funny. Seriously though, who are Mike McCoy and Adeiny Hechavarria? The Blue Jays look like they’re fielding a fucking AAA team this season. I mean, when we can’t make the playoffs with a solid roster and 87 wins, how the fuck do we expect to make them with a roster that is being filled out by career minor leaguers, rookies, and washed up veterans who probably have some type of alcohol addiction. It wasn’t enough that the Blue Jays had to compete against the Red Sox and Yankees every year, now the fucking Rays decided they wanted in on it and decided to start winning too. I guess this is just what it’s like to be a Toronto sports fan though: same old shit, new season. There’s not really much left to say in this situation except for this: We’re fucked, but here’s a picture of Rules of Engagement babe, Bianca Kajlich, to make things better.

  1. I'm going to let you guys in on a secret. The Jays have the #4 farm system in the entire league. They've got prospects coming out of their ass and guys just waiting to be called up at any point in the season.

JP Arencibia is probably going to be starting catcher this season. Brett Lawrie (traded for Shaun Marcum) could be a great mid-to-late season call-up. Then you've got Adeiny Hechavarria at SS.

Kyle Drabek (came our way in the Halliday deal), Zach Stewart (Scott Rolen trade), Brad Mils, and Robert Ray are all solid future pitchers.

This team's future is solid. Anthopoulos is a silent assasin. Sure, the lineup needs some shuffling around (hopefully Lind can play 1B and someone needs to fill in at 3rd so Bautista can play OF), but nevertheless, this team is going to have +80 wins. The only problem right now is a lack of depth on the bench, but again, I'm positive that AA is going to find a way to fix that before spring training.

  3. No the Jays are ranked top 5.

They used to be 29 but they moved up.

Grant, why do you not want Bautista to play 3rd? On Sportsnet they said Podsednik, Davis, and Snider were playing OF..and we still have Rivera too.

  4. Bautista's got such a good arm on him that I feel like it's wasted at 3B. I'd rather have Pods, Davis, and Bautista playing the OF with Snider as a back-up. Then they can try and use Rivera in some sort of deal to get a 3B.

But I'd be okay with Bautista at 3rd, and the others in the OF, too.

  5. Don't get me wrong boys, I'm as optimistic and hopeful for the future as the rest of you. But take an objective look at the lineup we're fielding and then compare it to the rest of the AL East.

It just gets disheartening to see Boston go out and load up on guys like Gonzo after not making the playoffs. We're probably looking at a slight let down from Bautista this year and other than that our best hitter is Aaron Hill. I'm all for the young pitchers but they just straight up won't have the run support against the Yanks, Bosox and Rays.
